Can someone help me? WILL MEDAL AND FAN

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need someone to explain to me how to do these

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can help with 1's perimeter the perimeter is 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And I think the area on 1 is 69

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how I can use pi for it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i THINK (not sure) you replace the 3 with pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all three 3's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought that too tbh. But I don't want to be wrong. :c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i think thats right hope we're right :) and you don't have to medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You deserve it even though we might not be right. :~)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zpupster can you help?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

You have to find the area of each piece and then add it all up to find the total area.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

So for #! we would find the area of the square and add the area of the triangle.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Area of square 4x4=16 Area of a triangle: 1/2x3x4 1/2x12 6 So add them up 16+6=22 So 22 is the composite area.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I understand that part now. But what confuses me is the pi part. How do I use that for the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or does pi not even matter?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Area of a half circle ½ x pi x r^2

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

So for #3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhh okay I get it

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Area of a half circle ½ x pi x r^2 ½ x pi x 3^2 + ½ x pi x 3^2 + 6 x 4 2( ½ x pi x 3^2) +6 x 4 pi x 9 +24 9pi +24 So 9pi +24 is the area…

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

And the circumference for a half circle is 1/2 x 2 x r

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

So do you get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I do, thank you so much!

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

no prob. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@TheSmartOne Okay so the square would be 9 and the triangle would be 10 so I would just add them together to get 19??

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

What question and yes..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Question 1

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Well in #1 you have to find the length and base... It is a 3, 4, 5 triangle so the base is 4 and the height is 3 And the area of a triangle is 1/2 x base x height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay
