What is an independent variable? A. A variable that interacts with no other variable B. A variable that never changes, or can't be changed by any other variable C. A variable that changes when another variable changes D. A variable that causes another variable to change when it changes E. A variable that always changes, and changes all other variables **Would it be B? Thanks!! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In my opinion, it should be a variable that causes another variable to change when it changes.. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure of this, but will go with that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay and it would cause the dependent variable to change then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, if \(x\) is independent variable, then : \[y = 4x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now, value of y is depending on x, so whenever x changes, it changes y too..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh okay thank you!! :)
