A bag contains 10 white golf balls and 6 striped golf balls. A golfer wants to add 112 golf balls to the bag. He wants the ratio of white to striped golf balls to remain the same. How many of each should he add?

i need the steps

@ganeshie8
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
ratio of white to striple = 10 : 6 = 5 : 3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Let w = white balls. Cross multiply and solve for w.
10/16 = w/112
16w = 1120
w = 70
Let s = striped
112 - 70 = s
42 = s

oh ok thanks!
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
so after adding 70 white and 42 stripe,
there will be a total of 80 white and 48 stripe in the bag
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
the ratio will still be 80 : 48 = 10 : 6 as desired. good job !!
