D is the best answer. Dr. Washington believed in a gradual system of training African Americans to gain economic power which would evolve into political equality. Dr Dubois argued for immediate rights and that the "talented tenth" of African Americans would lead the way. Dr Dubois alone argued for immediate equality. They both opposed Jim Crow, but separately. Dr Dubois left the US late in life to become a government minister in Ghana.
