Your science teacher has asked the class to make a cell city model. Which building or business in the city could represent the mitochondria, and why?

The Mitochondria would be represented by a factory. Most factories have power plants in which generators burn fuel to produce heat. This heat energy is used to make steam, which is then used to make electricity. Building proteins is the main function of cells. But for this to occur, a cell must have an energy source, and that energy must be in a form that the cell can use. The mitochondria is the "Power House" of the cell, and the city.
