Derive the equation of the parabola with a focus at (0, 1) and a directrix of y = -1. a. f(x) = -1/4x2 b. f(x) = 1/4x2 c. f(x) = -4x2 d. f(x) = 4x2

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Before talking about the equation's derivative, can you tell me what the equation itself is going to be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1=-1x im not sure how to do this thats why im on here my class is hard to understand

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

that is not a parabola.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So you are taking calculus before knowing how to extract the equation of the parabola?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F(x) is but im not sure how to do that

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I would get a tutor, or search for easy to read tutorials online) because if you are in calc 1, then you are really behind. (For your own sake) Generally the questions here are just to fill in gaps, like if I know most of the stuff I ask about one specific concept. It is not about "explain 2 courses for me in a second", well some people can, but not me.... sorry can't help you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y-1=0(x-1) or is it the other way
