What is the absolute value of -5 and 3? See the answer says 2 but if i cancel the negative on one number I have to do it to both...HELP

OpenStudy (phi):

absolute value doesn't really "cancel" the negative on each number separately what you is make the "inside" no matter how complicated, positive if it is negative, and leave it positive if it already is positive. to do this: | -5 + 3 | we have to first simplify to get one number: -5+3 -2 now that we have -2 we know what do do | -2 | becomes +2

Ohh okay thank you soo much
