HOY = horizontal line, 0 slope, represented by y = a number (and the x's will always be the same number) VUX = vertical line, undefined slope, represented by x = a number (and the y's will always be the same number) also...a horizontal line goes from left to right (across the horizon) a vertical line goes up and down. y = -4 is your line. Horizontal lines are represented by y = a number. In a horizontal line --- oops, I told you wrong above....the y's are the same. (3,-4)(1,-4) -- when you see that the y's are the same, it is a horizontal line. IF it would have been : (-4,1)(-4,3) where the x's were the same, then it would have been a vertical line
