Hello I have a geometry problem, I'm trying to design a moving joint attached to fixed surfaces Diagram of what i mean http://i.imgur.com/BlSXqHd.png The only length that is changing is that of c, I need a function describing it in terms of a and b or rather h. Trying to design something in 3d modeling software and this is driving me crazy. I figure one of you might have an idea how to solve this. It is probably simple and I'm just out of it. Note that a, and b are constants and so is m

a,b fixed right ?
yes
|dw:1414642957403:dw| \(d1\neq d2\) right ?
or this line is middle ? |dw:1414643051695:dw|
d1 and d2 are changing as well depending on the state
h = d1 + d2 at that state and they would be equal
d1 + d2 = a + b at hmax h max being the maximum distance between top and bottom surfaces
you should just ignore m because they are probably not going to be useful in this problem
@Kainui
at state 3, h will be pretty close to zero, objects aren't going to enter into each other though
At state 3, c = a = b sort of kind of steric hindrance will prevent this
this should be solvable I mean it is a pretty simple fold
