The function below shows the relationship between the length of each side of a square (y) and the area of the square (x + 3): y equals square root of the whole of x plus 3 Which graph best shows the function?

@iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

Is the graph \(y = \sqrt{x+3}\)? @domisreallytall

OpenStudy (igreen):

Well, here's the graph of \(y = \sqrt{x+3}\):

OpenStudy (igreen):

So which option do you think it is? @domisreallytall

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the third one?

OpenStudy (igreen):

No, look at the graph I gave you and look at the options..which one matches it the most?

OpenStudy (igreen):

@domisreallytall

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh the second one?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Almost..but not quite.

OpenStudy (igreen):

It's the first one because they both go through the point (1, 2). But Graph B doesn't.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!
