Can anyone here factor quadratic functions?? x^2-15x+56 What are the steps to factoring this?? I'm studying for a test and there's going to be a bunch of these on there

OpenStudy (dmndlife24):

Okay...have you ever heard of the AC method.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (dmndlife24):

What you have to think about is the the 56. The question is..."What are two factors of 56 that, when multiplied by each other, give you the 56." Also, those same two factors ALSO have to add up to give you the -15.

OpenStudy (dmndlife24):

And since the leading coefficient is one, it should make it much more simple

OpenStudy (dmndlife24):

@jellyfishdream do -7 and -8, when multiplied, equal 56?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay.. so the answers are x-7 and x-8?

OpenStudy (dmndlife24):

Exactly!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay what about this one 4x^3-6^2-28x

OpenStudy (dmndlife24):

Okay...can you put this in descending order.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't really know where to start with it
