Can someone help me with a question for American Government?
Which person or group do you think has the most influence on legislation? I think that it is the majority part but I don't have reason and I have to describe/give specific details and make a 1/2 page answer :/

well anything that has anything to do with goverment and histrory would go in history and im pretty good with history so throw me a question :D
It's the question I posted and its open ended :/
and I also posted it in History because now that I look at it, theres over 100 people 'studying' it....
let me see
The citizens should have the most influence on legislation, but they do not. Although, it might be greater than you think. Neither the Senate or the House of Representatives as a whole have the most either. But rather the majority party of either house. That is to say that bills proposed by the minority party never get out of committee and never get a floor vote. On the other hand, the majority party, and the party leaders, the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader, have the most influence on which bills come up for votes. So of the four choice you gave I would say the Speaker of the House, but also (and to a lesser extent) the Senate Majority Leader.
I read that but it doesn't really give me an easier understanding as to why the majority party has the most influence. I tried looking it up but that's all I came up across....
lol ok um
:D
