it's most likely a rough guess, how is anyone supposed to know for sure. Either way it doesn't matter really because the 10% was correct on my assignment.

ah now I read on wikipedia that the 10% number is probably right - being the maximum thoretical efficiency. you can count the energy that's in the absorbed photons and the amount of energy put into chemical bonds, and you come to 10%.
