so he did 6.5 hrs of overtime. if all he did was 40 hrs, then we would just do 40(9.5) but since he did the overtime, we would need to do 40(9.5) + 6.5(9.5 x 1.5)

40 + 6.5 = 46.5 hrs
$9.50 x 46.5 = $441.75 earned last week

the equation i typed up takes into account that he gets paid more for those 6.5 hrs he didn't need to do

40(9.5) + 6.5(9.5 x 1.5)
