Two polynomials P and D are given. Use either synthetic or long division to divide P(x) by D(x), and express P in the form P(x) = D(x) · Q(x) + R(x). P(x) = 4x3 + 9x + 9, D(x) = 2x + 1

4x3 is supposed to be 4x^3

Long Division: Quotient 2x + 1 4x^3 + 0x^2 + 9x + 9 2x^2 - x + 5 4x^3 + 2x^2 ----------------- -2x^2 + 9x -2x^2 - x ----------------- 10x + 9 10x + 5 ---------- 4

OpenStudy (aum):

4x^3 + 9x + 9 = (2x + 1)(2x^2 - x + 5) + 4
