Can somebody be kind, and help me on this problem? I am struggling on trying to find the answer. Best answer gets a medal! c: AJ is designing a circular garden with a path surrounding it. His design for the garden is shown below http://puu.sh/cB1Ch/c79678a5b3.png If x = 5, what is the approximate area of the path surrounding the garden? (Use 3.14 for π)

OpenStudy (loser66):

what is the formula to find out the area of a circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is \[A=\Pi*r^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[A=\Pi*8^2 \] equals 200.96, but there is no answer for 200, these are the answers. http://puu.sh/cB2fI/e87ae368eb.png

Am I doing it completely wrong..?

OpenStudy (loser66):

of course, it is the whole big circle, you have to find out the small one and subtract them together to get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, okay! Thankyou so much!
