Does a paragraph HAVE to have five sentences?

No. Depending on which school you're in (high school, college, university, etc), it can vary. Ask your teacher or professor though.

Typically a paragraph IS 5 sentences, however, it can be 3 if the sentences are long, complex, thorough, and in depth. It would have to be 7 sentences if they are short sentences.

But like I said, ask your teacher or professor for clarification to be sure.
