List two ways in which heterogeneous mixtures differ from elements.

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

hey

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi halp?

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

heterogeneous mixtures number one are mixtures not pure substances, number two heterogeneous mixtures can be a mixture of a solid and a liquid, they don't have to be in the same physical state to mix

Cereal is an example of what type of matter? Solution Compound Heterogeneous Mixture Element

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

heterogeneous mixture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thnx Which of the following is a solution? Dirt Salt Water Gasoline Carbon

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

salt water

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following are listed on the periodic table? Compounds Elements <-- This one right? Mixtures Solutions

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

duh silly girl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay :3 All of the following are examples of solutions except salt water. bronze. air. <-- This? water.

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

water... its a compound

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

air is a solution consisting of different types of gaseous elements and some moisture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following is an element? Orange Juice HCl Acid Oxygen <--? and your awesome btw

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

yes oxygen is correct on the last one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Theses are the last ones Solutions can be separated by chemical means. physical means. electrolysis. solutions can-not be separated. Question 10 (Multiple Choice Worth 2 points) Which of the following is not an example of separation by physical means? Filtration Decantation Electrolysis Evaporation Question 11 (Multiple Choice Worth 2 points) Which of the following is a solution? Dirt An Alloy Wood Plastic

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

solutions can be separated by chemical means; electrolysis; An Alloy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANKS

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

either an alloy or plastic idk for sure on the last one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I swear last one How do scientists distinguish between an element and a compound? List two elements and two compounds.

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

Boron and Oxygen are the two elements Water and Carbon Dioxide are the two compounds and they distinguish between them by looking at the atoms that compose the substance they are observing and compare them to other atoms of the same substance and then they compare to the atoms of elements and they do this on multiple sections of the substance to back up their findings and they go by whether or not the atoms are all alike or have some different atoms in it and then if they have different atoms in it they compare the different atoms to those of different elements and figure out which ones it is composed of

thanx

OpenStudy (xxcoyotekidxx):

no problem
