Depends on how old the student is. If he/she is young, then yes, there should be a parent/guardian to help them and to be there. If the child can do it on their own, then a parent/guardian does not need to be there 24/7. They could just check on their child to see if everything is fine and if they need help. I do homeschooling on my own most of the time and I am 14. I am also a girl.
