Which equation shows the substitution method being used to solve the system of linear equations? x – y = 7 x = y + 3 A. x – y = y + 3 B. x = (7 – x) + 3 C. (y + 3) – y = 7 D. x – (y + 3) = 7

Substitution method is substituting the value of x in the y or vice versa So which equation will satisfy that fact?

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

in the substitution method you solve for one variable from any equation you choose and then repace it in the second equation.

OpenStudy (abdullah1995):

and so when solving you will only have 1 unknown either x or y. so from the options above you can clearaly cross out A and D because they have x and y both in them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i think its b but thats the two i am stuck on b and c
