If triangleABC is congruent triangleXYZ, find angle Y. *picture included in comments

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Have you tried it out yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea how to do this one at all

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Corresponding angles of congruent triangles are congruent.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, i would assume that? i don't know where the m is coming from.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

m means measure

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well it looks like angle X is equal to angle A correct? And Angle Z is equal to angle C and finally angle Y equal to angle B So if you look at all the angle you have...we have |dw:1415055212809:dw| we have 2 angles of a triangle....and a triangles angles add to 180....so what is that missing angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oo 80?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Asking me or telling me? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both lol

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Haha yes 80 is correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Given that triangleXYZ triangleNML, mangX = 20°, mangM = 75°, and mangL = 5(w – 2)° , find the value of w. do i make this add up to 80 too?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and if you got all those question marks idk where they came from haha

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Lol it's a bug that has been affecting Openstudy for a little bit But in general...yes all internal angles of a triangle add up to 180...it's a good way to make sure you're on the right track :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer would be 80, correct? 20+75+5(85-2)=180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or waiiit 19-2

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Wait? why would it be 80? so we add them all up yes 20 + 75 + 5(w - 2) = 180 95 + 5(w - 2) = 180 5(w - 2) = 85 5w - 10 = 85 5w = 95 w = 19 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks :)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Anytime :)
