@maddi4499 On a river in Vermont during the summer months. We know this because the narrator tells us; the Dartmouth rowing team also practices on the river which establishes the setting in New England. The story takes place in the 1960’s because of the allusions to Jackie Kennedy and Ann-Margret. Other settings are on the dock, at the summer cottage of Sheila Mant’s family, and in the canoe. The river is the most important aspect of the setting because it is the catalyst for the conflict of the narrator.
