The Greeks and Turks who share the island have been unable to truly unite as a single nation. Instead, Greek Cypriots administrate much of the island, while a small portion in the north is run by Turkish Cypriots. What challenges must these groups overcome in order to become one united nation?
Hello Daelyn, The current situation in Cyprus has negative consequences for both the Greek Cypriots and the Turkish Cypriots. In order to truly unite as a single nation, the two sides must commit themselves to finding a peaceful solution to the dispute and avoid any further intercommunal tensions and hostilities. A settlement would have a positive impact on the entire region, while first and foremost benefiting Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots, respecting democratic principles, human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as each other's distinct identity and integrity and ensuring their common future in a united Cyprus. Good luck!
Thank you so much
