The probability of getting disease X (event A) is 0.66, and the probability of getting disease Y (event B) is 0.73. The probability of getting both disease X and disease Y is 0.4818. Are events A and B dependent or independent?

OpenStudy (perl):

P(A) = .66 P(B) = .73 is it true that P(A & B ) = P(A) * P(B) ?

OpenStudy (perl):

if P( A & B ) = P(A) * P(B) , then A , B are independent events

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't really know... I think yes... So independent is right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was right thank you so much @perl !
