Find the least common denominator (LCD) for the fractions. and A. 12 B. 4 C. 16 D. 48

OpenStudy (thewalkingdeadrick):

1/12 and 3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

'12' and '48' (choices 'A' and 'D') will both work as common denominators. The least one is '12' . Since 4 is a factor of 12, any multiple of 12 is also a multiple of 4 , and can serve as a common denominator. The smallest multiple of 12 is 12 itself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/12 Multiples of 12: 12, 24, 36, 48, 60... 3/4 Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, ... 12 is a multiple of both 12 and 4, therefore that will be the LCD.

OpenStudy (thewalkingdeadrick):

thank you so much
