What is the line of symmetry for the parabola whose equation is y = 3x2 + 24x - 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The line of symmetry is -4

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

for a parabola in the form \[y=ax^2 + bx + c\] the line of symmetry is \[x = \frac{-b}{2 \times a}\] in your question a = 3 abd y = 24 substitute and calculate the answer hope it helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You get this answer from using the formula -b/2a, you plug in 24 and make it negative, then plug in a which is 3 and then get -24/6 and then finally all you do is simplify, which leads to -4
