A period is usually a full stop. For an example I just wrote "A period is usually a full stop."
Now, I wrote that because I don't want to add anything else to my sentence. You do not want to make a sentence a run-on sentence, but there are commas! Which I assume you haven't learned that yet? Here's an example of a run-on sentence.

Hi my name is Vianne and I like red and I like YouTube and I like Peter Russells and I like gummiebears and I like food and I like everything and I went to a chocolate tour the other day and it was amazing and I mean like really amazing!
