Help me pleaseeee??????

geerky42 (geerky42):

Ok, what do you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

geerky42 (geerky42):

remember that divided by fraction is same as multiplied by its reciprocal. So you should do that, then you can see that \((5x^2-1)\) should be cancelled.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@geerky42 i think its D am i right?

geerky42 (geerky42):

Really? What happened to \(x+2\) and \(x-2\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they would cancle eachother out right cause -2+ 2 would be 0 and you would just be left with x

geerky42 (geerky42):

None, that's not how it should be. you have two different factors, which is x-2 and x+2 you cannot cancel factors out, unless they are same. \(\dfrac{x+2}{x-2} \neq\dfrac{x}{x}=1\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay so what would it be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What have you tried cook?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iambatman what do you mean

geerky42 (geerky42):

Because x-2 and x+2 don't cancel each other out, would you think answer is C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea that seem right

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

You can cancel out the (5x^2 -1) terms because when you divide, one of those terms will go to the denominator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant have you tried this problem out yourself yet, and used what geerky said?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iambatman yes i did i just did it wrong and geerky explained it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cool, well for this problem see if you can cancel some stuff out right away? Do you see anything in numerator and denominator that you can take away/ simplify?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and (x+1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nice, now what can you do with the 8 and 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divivde by 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Very good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what are you left with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 and 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure what you mean, can you elaborate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah as in 2 in the numerator and 1 in denominator :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be 8 times (x+2) / 1(x+1
