you have a few equalities here
a) 42/77 = 77/165
b) 35/77 = 75/165
c) 40/165 = 40/75
d) 40/165 = 88/165
e) 42/90 = 90/165
Which of these are equal?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Equal how? None of them look equal
OpenStudy (perl):
try to reduce them to lowest terms
OpenStudy (perl):
1/2 and 2/4 don't look equal, but they are :)

Like simplify them?
OpenStudy (perl):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
a) 42/77 = 77/165 ---> 6/11 = 11/23.5
b) 35/77 = 75/165 ---> 5/11 = 10.7/23.5
c) 40/165 = 40/75 ---> 5.71/23.5 = 5.71/10.7
d) 40/165 = 88/165 ---> 5.71/23.5 = 12.5/23.5
e) 42/90 = 90/165 ---> 6/12.8 = 12.8/23.5

b ) 75/165 = 5/11
OpenStudy (perl):
simplifying fractions means finding the lowest fraction a/b , no decimal
OpenStudy (perl):
lowest term fraction*
OpenStudy (perl):
for example
10/12 = 5/6
thats the lowest term fraction
OpenStudy (perl):
if you are going to use decimals, then you might as well just write out the whole decimal and compare. youre mixing decimals and fractions
