f(y) is a discrete random density function where f(y)= 1/2 at the interval of (1,2) 1/4 at [4,6] find (and graph if you can) the F(y) Distribution function

OpenStudy (perl):

i would graph it, and then add up the areas under the curves

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where I got confused is 1/2 is between 1 and 2 but not on 1 or to being discrete does it count?

OpenStudy (perl):

i mean, first graph f(y), then graph F(y) , the accumulation function

OpenStudy (perl):

basically F(Y) = integral f(y) , from a to x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/4 from 4,5,6 so in this interval I get 3/4 and still need 1/4 more for it to become 1, The number doesn't add up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There was a similar problem with this in the book, considering that it is discrete I don't think I'm suppose to integrate.
