I need help setting up an equation...
What is the question?
The Ferrari Testarossa and the Porshe 911 Turbo are 400 miles apart and headed straight towards each other. The Ferrari is going 120 mph, and the Porshe is going 130 mph. How many hours will it take for the accident to occur?
i dont need the answer i can do that myself will u explain how to set the equation up for me
?
There are two way to do this. One is to say that the initial position of the Ferrari is at 0 and it has traveled a distance 120t in t hours, while the Proshe starts at position 400, so its position after t hours is 400 - 130t. So then you can do the rest. The other way is to use a reference frame where the Ferrari is going at 0 mph (at rest) and the Porshe is approaching at 250 mph. Think about why these are the same. Both methods should yield the same answer.
okay thank you!
