HELP WILL MEDAL! What is the slope of the hypotenuses of the triangles in simplest form? First-quadrant graph showing a ray through the origin and the points (2, 4), (3, 6), and (5, 10). Two triangles have their longest sides with endpoints along the line, one vertical leg, and one horizontal leg. The first triangle has a longest side with endpoints at (2, 4) and (3, 6). The second triangle has a longest side with endpoints at (5, 10) and (3, 6). I will post the graph in a min k
Help? @CausticSyndicalist
I believe its 4/1
I don't really know much about slopes to be honest, but there's a possibility you're right. Eh *shrugs*
ok thx anyways
since the hypotenuses of the triangles lie on the same line, you will have one slope for the line.. slope is : \[m = \frac{ y_2-y_1 }{ x_2-x_1 }\] where (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are points of the line
ok I may need help with a few more if so ill tag ya ok? :)
heres one. it may have more than one answer; Two right triangles with the following dimensions are graphed with their hypotenuses on the same line: triangle X: horizontal leg measures 2 units vertical leg measures 8 units triangle Y: horizontal leg measures 4.5 units vertical leg measures 18 units Which other triangles could also have their hypotenuse on the same line? Choose all answers that are correct. A. horizontal leg measures 3 units, vertical leg measures 12 units B. horizontal leg measures 5 units, vertical leg measures 18 units C. horizontal leg measures 4 units, vertical leg measures 16 units D. Horizontal leg measures 9 units, vertical leg measures 36 units
to determine which triangles lie on the same line, just check the slope. triangle X: horizontal leg measures 2 units vertical leg measures 8 units let's check its slope: vertical/horizontal 8/2 = 4 triangle Y: horizontal leg measures 4.5 units vertical leg measures 18 units slope: y/x = 18/4.5 = 4 now let's have the choices. choice A: horizontal leg measures 3 units, vertical leg measures 12 units slope = 12/3 = 4 ok! choice B: horizontal leg measures 5 units, vertical leg measures 18 units slope = 18/5 = 3.6 not ok! choice C: horizontal leg measures 4 units, vertical leg measures 16 units slope = 16/4 = 4 ok! choice D: Horizontal leg measures 9 units, vertical leg measures 36 units slope = 36/9 = 4 ok!
ok thx so much ur the best!
