OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Hold on a sec...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Okay, so the exterior angle <STU will be equal to the sum of <RST and <SRT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7x-54+8x=180, then solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

You know that m<STU = 8x, and that m<RST = 7x - 84. You also know that this is an isosceles triangle and that base angles must be equal.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Hm...looks like @pkjag is going at it a different way...he might be right. I'll check...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nah it doesn't give a whole number, x, @studygurl14 you might be right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no nevermind I misread it

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Yea, I just checked. It didn't work...

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

You know what you can just do instead of setting up an equation, etc...? Just plug in the answer choices and see if they work...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think if (7x-54)*3=180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha @StudyGurl14 thats cheating

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No that doesn't work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay yeah I'll try with the answer choices

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Using answer choice A, which is 14, you can plug into 7x - 54 7(14) - 54 = 44 (180-44)/2 = 68 44 + 68 = 8(14) 112 =112 The answer is A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was just going to write that I'd figured out it was A :p thanks!

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

You're welcome. :)
