I'm learning Quantum Mechanics in Chemistry; trying to find the Electron Configuration, Orbital Notation, Quantum Numbers(n, l, m subscript l, and m subscript s) of an element. Can someone please explain how to find each of these?
do you have any book to read about? you can read this article then if you don't understand let me know I can help you. It is not that complicated as it looks like. There are also many videos about at different levels. Imagine that the electrons accommodate as students in dorms with bedrooms and different floors and some dorms has one, other has 3 and others 5 bedrooms. and the students are allowed no more than 2 per bedroom. Then the address of each student will be different because when they get letters the postman has to know which floor which room and which student the letter is for. So you can compare the 'n" o principal level with the floor of the building, then the "l" will be the apartment number, the "m" will be the bedroom name and the ms the name of the student.
Alright, that makes much more sense. I'm going to read the article but your analogy is very helpful.
