Which tense allows for an event that began in the past to carry into the present moment in time? past perfect present perfect past progressive present progressive

OpenStudy (kiakat):

I'm thinking that it's past perfect. The past perfect tense is usually used to talk about an action that happened before an event. EX. "By the time I had gotten home from school, my brother was already in the garage working on the bike we'd bought together." Do a google search on each of the tenses if that doesn't make sense.
