solve for x: -2x + 5 < 7 1. x > -1 2. x < -1 3. x > -6 4. x < -6

OpenStudy (zpupster):

isolate x on one side of equation solve like a equation -2x+5 < 7 lets subtract 5 both sides -2x+5-5 < 7-5 -2x < 2 now lets divide both sides by -2 **** when multiplying or dividing by a negative we must change the direction of greater or lesser sign*** so -2x/2 < 2/-2 now change x>-1 now check 0 is greater than -1 so plug it in what did you get??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x>-1
