(4x-32)/5=16

Yes, that is an equation. What is your question about it?

To solve for x, you have to "undo" what is being done to the x. Since you're working with a fraction on the left side, the best thing to do is cancel that division first. So to cancel "dividing by 5" on the left, you have to multiply both sides by 5. That gives you: 4x - 32 = 80 Then you have to undo the subtraction, so add 32 to both sides. 4x - 32 = 80 +32 +32 ------------- The +32 and -32 cancel on the left, so you're left with 4x. 4x = 112 So now you have 4x on the left, which is multiplication (4 times x). To undo this multiplication, you have to divide both sides by 4. 4x = 112 /4 /4 -------- Times 4 and divided by 4 cancel on the left, so you're left with just x. x = 28
