Need help please :D i have a picture of the problem attached. :D

http://gyazo.com/4dcfeb78f90ec694508c096716f9fafa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

suppose to find the swimmers speed relative to the water if he went from a to b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

got a slow internet connections at the moment, waiting for gyazo to load

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay no problem

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i dont see a question, just relative information

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i wrote what we need to find in the comments part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need to find the swimmers speed relative to the water if he swam directly from a to b

OpenStudy (amistre64):

suppose to find the swimmers speed relative to the water if he went from a to b so we are to assume the path taken across the river was from A to B,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is the distance from A to B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

250 right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

maybe, sqrt(200^2+150^2) = 250 yes, what is the angle at A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like 36.9?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im getting an idea ... spose we are just floating dead in the water, how long does it take to travel the distance of d2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops thts wrong gotta convert units

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.8 seconds?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

.03 hours times 5 km/hr = .15 km

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.03 hours is 1.8 seconds

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1.8 minutes ... yes now if we were swimming straight across, from A to C, in order to hit B in .03 hours, how fast would we need to be swimming? just to give us a sense of how to work the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeaminutes my bad lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would u find that out?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, we need to cover 200 meters in .03 hours .... how do we calculate a rate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6m/hr?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

.2 km in .03 hours .... rate is measured in km per hour right? rate = km/hr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea ok
