Confusing. Calculus.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The function f(x) = (8x-9)e^{5x} has one critical number. Find it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What did you get for the derivative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

e^5x(40x-37)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good. Now that implies that \(e^{5x}=0\) or \(40x-37=0\). However, \(e^{5x}>0\) for all real numbers \(x\); hence \(e^{5x}=0\) has no solution. Thus the only part that gives you a solution is \(40x-37=0\). What do you get for x in this case? :-)

37/40

Thank you a lot
