someone please quick help!
A cylinder has a volume of 24 cubic inches. What is the volume of a cone that the cone fits exactly inside of?

Volume of a cone is \[\pi r^2 h/3\] and the volume of a cylinder is \[\pi r^2h\] Given that for the cone to fit in the cylinder, the base and height must be the same. This means that the volume of the cylinder is 3 times that of the cone - i.e. 3x24 = 72
i already did that and multiplied and got that answer. your supposed to divide @I_Need_Help_With_Home
Volume of a cone is 1/3 the volume of a cylinder.
i did it backwards and now im confused,
24 * 3 = ? @Para_phrenic88
ik that
is 72
@I_Need_Help_With_Home Don't give out answers.
but my teach just said im wrong.....
its volume of cylinder not cone
Oh, sorry. So that would be 24 / 3
here this is what i had as my answer
And what's that?
ik but i need help getting to that point. like can you help explain
like no1 ever helps me on this site they only give answers
The volume of a cone is 1/3 the volume of a cylinder. And since the volume of our cylinder is 24, we divide the volume of the cylinder by 3 to get the volume of a cone that fits perfectly in it.
Get it? @Para_phrenic88
so i would divide 24 by 3?
that would be 8
yes @iGreen
Yep, that's right. So the volume of the cone will be 8.@Para_phrenic88
* @Para_phrenic88
so thats the answer?? thats easy
Yep.
thank you so much! can you help with another?
Sure, just close this one and open a new one.
