5m > 23 please help! A. m > 9 B. m < 9 C. m > -9 D. m < -9

OpenStudy (mrnood):

the inequality in this case can be treated in a similar way to an equality. Divide both sides of the inequation by 5 You will then have an inequality m> ?? There are however TWO of your answer options which are true. Are you sure you have written the question correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I did

OpenStudy (mrnood):

So divide both sides by 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so 4.6

OpenStudy (mrnood):

write the inequality having divided both sides...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont understand

OpenStudy (mrnood):

5m>4.6 you have divided the right hand side - also need to divide the left to keep it true. (e.g. 7x>49 divide by 7 both sides : x>7)

OpenStudy (mrnood):

soory - I meant 5m>23 above...

OpenStudy (mrnood):

write the original inequality then write a new inequality, having divided by 5 like my example above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its going to be A. right

OpenStudy (mrnood):

I don't really care for the guesses - you have a 1 in 4 chance of being right. If you want more help please write the inequality as shown in the example I gave above
