What does it mean to say that some elements are reactive and form ions easily whereas others do not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some elemtnes react very easily, turning them into cations (ions with a + charge) and anions (ions with a - charge). Others are more stable when they are together than when they are apart, so they will stay together.

Pretty much what it says. Some elemtnes react very easily, turning them into cations (ions with a + charge) and anions (ions with a - charge). Others are more stable when they are together than when they are apart, so they will stay together. If right medals
