Do i need to take 1 or -1 in the synthetic division? cant remember if i take the opposite or not!

oh okay, thanks anyways! im pretty sure i do take the reciprocal of it so thats what im going to do.

Find when the bottom is zero. And that is what you plug into the top.

wait what? haha sorry that confused me. what i did was took 1 and put it into a synthetic division equation. the remainder was 5. isnt that the end of the equation?
