Emily uses her college photocopier machine to photocopy at the rate of $0.08 per page. She decides to rent a photocopier machine for $90 a year. The cost of photocopying using the rented machine is $0.03 per page. Part A: Write an inequality that can be used to calculate the number of pages that Emily should photocopy in a year so that the amount she pays for the rented machine is less than the college machine. Define the variable used. (5 points) Part B: How many pages should Emily print in a year to justify renting the photocopier? Show your work. (5 points)

90+0.03x< 0.08x

What about Part B? And can you explain Part A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ankit042 ???

OpenStudy (ankit042):

well the fixed cost for her is 90$ and to print each copy will be 0.03 lets assume she makes x copies . so total cost for her will be 90+0.03x and it should be less than cost if she doesn't but the machine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhhh, Okay! But what about part B?

OpenStudy (ankit042):

you have to just solve for x and you get your answer

And can you help me get the ball rolling? Like, can you start off what I should do and I can go from there?

Sorry, I am having a bad day in math. Thanks for your patience!
