During the Han Dynasty of China, Emperor Wudi decided China should be a Confucian state and not a Taoist state. This dramatically changed the way government operated. What was one result of the change to Confucianism? A civil service system for government workers began. Government officials had to be more responsive to the people. Taxes were reduced and government had less control. The Chinese became under the control of their foreign neighbors.
