Growth and Repair.

Mitosis is the process whereby cells duplicate and produce an EXACT copy of another cell. For example, when you shed skin on your hands mitosis happens to grow new skin cells. This happens in all cells throughout your body however your cells will always be at different stages of the process. The only exception of this is the gametes where meiosis takes place.
