A pan is heated to 370°F, then removed from the heat and allowed to cool in a kitchen where the room temperature is a constant 71°F. The formula below can be used to find D, the difference in temperature between the pan and the room after t minutes.
D = 299e-0.02t
What is the approximate temperature of the pan after it has been away from the heat for 15 minutes?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
221.5°F
474.6°F
292.5°F
150.5°F

first plug in 0.02 * 15
OpenStudy (anonymous):
done it equals -0.3
OpenStudy (ccswims):
But I legit can't find what e is supposed to stand for. Like I know t = time/minutes...
OpenStudy (ccswims):
is that how the equation was first written?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes.

ok, I'm stuck, sorry :/

\(e\) stands for Euler's number which is equal to 2.7182818284590452353602874713527 but for this we will just use 2.7182
OpenStudy (sleepyjess):
so now that we know what \(e\) is what is -.02*15

Thank you very much, I had no idea that such a thing as Euler's number even existed.
