all vertical lines have a slope of ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, horizontal lines have horizontal slopes .... vertical lines have vertical slopes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but like horizontal lines have a slope of 0 what is the slope o vertical? 1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a vertical slope cannot be defined by a number .... in mathical terms: n/0 has no definition unless you attribute a meaning to it. in this case: a vertical slope is defined by n/0 but the actual solution to the question is rather author specific.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we might as well define the slope of a line by the tangent of the angle it makes with the positive x axis. the slope of a vertical line is therefore equal to: tan(90)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its undefined

OpenStudy (amistre64):

undefined is how some classes/authors define it yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome
