Please help!! In which of the following scenarios would environmental restoration not be a viable option?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. Trees are harvested by a lumber company using selective cutting techniques. B.An indigenous tribe living in a rainforest overhunts a species of antelope one year. C. A pharmaceutical company removes medicinal berries from bushes on the forest floor. D. An endangered species of lizard is discovered in a heavily logged section of forest. E. An invasive species of leaf-eating beetle thrives in a forest in which it has no natural predators.

Sorry bruhh...i suck @ biology

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's ok i suck at it too

OpenStudy (dmndlife24):

Lol...the struggle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For real lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any idea as to what the answer might be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think it's A or C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so first things first, do you know what the question is asking?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, whether or not the forest can be restored... I'm just not sure what the species have to do with it. If an endangered species of lizards was found in a place that was heavily logged, you would probably think they would want to restore that place so the lizard doesn't go extinct... I think it might be E

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because if the species of deer was overhunted then they would probably want to restore the forest so the population of deer could grow again, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good. So, we know for a fact that A, B and D do infact require environmental restoration. What are your thoughts on C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think it would impact the forest that much? So it could still be restored

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The company is doing something benefical. Therefore, there is no need for environmental restoration. However, think about E. Without a predator, the leaf eating beetles will continue to destroy the plants. Thus, we need the environmental restoration to occur here to curb this problem. Get what I'm saying?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay... so it is C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep :) and I trust that you now know why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! Thank you so much for all your help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what biome this is? it isn't a tropical rainforest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinking it was a desert but i think the precipitation levels are too high for that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it a temperate rainforest?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry but I don't know this one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's fine I think I got it :)
