Jupiter at Aphelion is 5.458104 AU. Saturn at PErihelion is 9.04807635 AU. What average velocity would be need in km/sec for a spacecraft to travel between these planets in 5 years. Can you please show the process in order to get the answer?
this is a stupid question in as much it requires oyu to assume that the spacecrafty can travel in a straight line between those 2 points and the planets would be there in exact conjunction. The real question is how many km in (9.04807635 -5.458104)AU (lets say the answer is x km) and How many seconds in 5 years (lets say the answer is y seconds) Work those 2 conversions out - the average velocity is then x/y km/s
1 Astronomical Unit = 149 597 871 kilometres
What do you do after you find x km and y seconds?
I told you above. average velocity = distance/time
